Pack 163 Committee Minutes

March 7, 2007

 

  1. Advancement
    1. Anything to give to Kevin?

                                                              i.            All turned in via email.  Anne Marie gave to Kevin tonight.

 

  1. February Pack Meeting – Pinewood Derby
    1. How did it go?

                                                              i.            Good.

                                                            ii.            Ted will bring Mike’s scale back.

                                                          iii.            Tigers did not get patches, but Nancy will get them to Mike.

                                                          iv.            Certificates for Tigers was great.

    1. What should we do different next year?

                                                              i.            Give Tiger’s PW Derby patches to Tigers when Tiger awards are given out if we give them out next year.

                                                            ii.            Project the computer program on the screen to see who is coming in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th.

                                                          iii.            Have Kevin explain methodology of race program.

 

  1. March 23 Pack Meeting – Blue and Gold
    1. From last month

                                                              i.            Eric will schedule Randy Glines or someone else to do prayer, also give a chance to speak about something 5-minutes

1.      Randy is all set.

                                                            ii.            Do a CD of photos for Blue and Gold – Everyone send any pictures they want to put on it. – Eric can get a projector

1.      All Den leaders bring digital pictures to next committee meeting or email to Sue.

2.      Sue will put together a slide show.

                                                          iii.            Use screen above stage.

1.      Ted is in charge.

                                                          iv.            Candle ceremony for Webelos – Ted is in charge.  Need to know which Webelos are getting arrow of light.

                                                            v.            Do Cake & Ice cream – each den bring own ice cream, plates, cups, spoons, forks, drinks, etc.

                                                          vi.            Pack will do cakes for everyone – Sue is in charge.  Sue is going to have pack purchase a big sheet cake pan for making these cakes.

                                                        vii.            Nancy will take care of Neckerchiefs and books for graduating.  Needs to get $$ from Dick.

1.      Need list of who will need what.  Each Den leader needs to bring in a list of number of books/neckerchiefs needed for their kids going on to next year.

2.      Each Den should turn in their form for advancements next Committee meeting.

3.      Ted will check inventory of books and neckerchiefs and report to Nancy.

                                                      viii.            Every Den can do a Blue & Gold decoration for table or something to show what was done this year.

                                                          ix.            Timeslot for pictures.

                                                            x.            Do an introduction to ceremony to let people know what we are doing

                                                          xi.            Get a podium for Ted and Microphone.

    1. Updates

                                                              i.            Pack Master will give rank.  Den leader will give out additional awards while the boys are up there.

                                                            ii.            Ted will contact school about podium and microphone and have screen lowered.

                                                          iii.            Chester TV station may come and film it.  Mike is coordinating if the TV guy has time.

 

  1. April 13 Pack Meeting
    1. Sue got Police Dog and police man to go with it.
    2. Talk about camp update.
    3. Awards.

 

  1. May pack Meeting (June 1st)
    1. Ted will find out if we can camp at Camp Carpenter.
    2. We can do a camp fire.
    3. Will look into using Wason Pond as a backup plan.

 

  1. February Roundtable
    1. How did it go, what were the important points?

                                                              i.            Cancelled

 

  1. March Roundtable February 14, 7:00 PM – St. Elizabeth Seton (Bedford)
    1. Who will attend?

                                                              i.            Sue may be able to go.

 

  1. Winter Carnival – Feb 10
    1. How did it go?

                                                              i.            It was good

    1. Notes for Next Year

                                                              i.            Next year, pass on more knowledge of what we can do at the Carnival.  Where you can go, etc.

                                                            ii.            Bring sleds if they want to sled.

 

  1. Chuck Wagon Derby – April 14:
    1. Webelos can camp out.
    2. Kevin will take lead.
    3. Den Leaders should talk up Chuckwagon.
    4. How much $$?
    5. When do we need $$?

 

  1. Misc.
    1. Summer Camp

                                                              i.            Summer camp is July 22 – 26

1.      Ted, Eric, Mike will go.

2.      Larry may go.

3.      Kevin can do 1 or 2 nights.

4.      For every 5 kids that go, one adult can go for free.

5.      Deposit by March 7, give to Ted $50.

6.      Ted will talk about at Pack Meeting.

7.      Need to figure out a method for sending kids to camp with our camp $$ next meeting.

a.      Ted will get people for campership.

b.      If nobody going for campership, we will do something else.

8.      Wear Uniforms to dinner

9.      Based on # of boys, 2 leaders can go for free.  Ted will try to see if we can get some more adults to go for free.

10.  Ted will mention campership at Blue and Gold.

11.  Hike-a-thon can be used to raise money for camp.  Boys can keep 75% of what they make toward camp. 

Ted will get the rest of the information for hike-a-thon – April 22.

                                                             ii.            Parent Visits

1.      Monday night is cooking in the camp site and parents can come to that.

2.      Parent visits are discouraged for those who are homesick as it typically makes it worse.

 

  1. Outdoor Leader Skills (Please include in newsletter)
    1. Training for Webelos and Bear Leaders May 11 – 13 at Camp Carpenter.  This is required for Webelos campouts

1.      Dick found Falconry school that will come and do demonstrations for Cub Scouts.  Dick has her information.
