October 4, 2006

 

  1. Town Fair and Parade
    1. How did it go?

                                                              i.            It went well

                                                            ii.            Everyone had fun

    1. What should we do again or different next year?

                                                              i.            Get more people to help Deb decorate the trailer or at least offer help.

                                                            ii.            Do candy again but save some to give to kids after the corner.

                                                          iii.            Police kids not to throw at vehicles, dogs, etc.

 

  1. New Scout Sign-up
    1. How did it go?

                                                              i.            Went well.

    1. What should we do again or different next year

                                                              i.            Get flyers printed from council next year- They do the fancy ones for free.

                                                            ii.            Put flyers in newsletter.

                                                          iii.            Don’t do spring membership drive but do put contact on TV for those who are looking.

 

  1. Den Set-up
    1. How did it go?

                                                              i.            Den setup went well.

                                                            ii.            Got 2 new volunteers.

    1. What should we do again or different next year?

                                                              i.            Make sure “no kids” is better communicated or have a chaperone

                                                            ii.            Have a den leader, meeting parent group time

                                                          iii.            Make sure Den leaders get list of their kids and phone numbers at den setup.

 

  1. Advancement
    1. Anything to give to Kevin?

                                                              i.            Sue will email hers tonight

                                                            ii.            Mike will order instant recognition kits tonight

                                                          iii.            Katie was very impressed with Nancy’s advancement organization--- THANKS NANCY.

 

  1. 2006/2007 Schedule
    1. May Pack Meeting/Campout conflicts with PTA Father/Daughter dance

                                                              i.            We will do on June 1.

 

  1. Popcorn Fundraiser
    1. Popcorn order forms and money due at October 20 Pack Meeting

                                                              i.            Den leaders please remind your dens.

    1. Show’N’Sell Dates/Locations (table, easy-up, signs, change/money, coordinate pickup with Mary Young prior to show’n’sell date)

·        October 7, 9 – 11 Spolletts: Kevin Pilotte

·        October 7, 11 – 1 Spolletts: Mike Eno

·        October 7, 9 – 11 Dump: Adym Lincoln, Dick Trask

·        October 7, 11 – 1 Dump: Adym Lincoln, Larry is checking, Kevin will try to get some from his den

·        October 14, 9 – 1 Dump: Eric Stinson, Larry will check as well, Dick will check with Karl.

    1. Need to do TY Notes for Spolletts and Dump (do on poster board)

                                                              i.            Sue will make them and bring to Pack meeting to sign.

    1. Any scout who spends at least 4 hours at show ‘n’ sell gets a prize from pack (figure out prize at next committee meeting)

                                                              i.            Ted will check into mess kits, still looking.

                                                            ii.            Should we do a prize for 2 hours?

1.      Ted will get “Knots and how to tie them” for all boys who sold at show’n’sell no matter how many hours.

2.      Ted will check into mess kits for those with 4 hours.

3.      Ted will get them for the November Pack meeting but try for the October meeting.  Books will be available for October.

    1. Send-a-kid to camp donation jars

                                                              i.            $144 to date

    1. Popcorn to date

                                                              i.            $855 to date in Popcorn sales

 

  1. September 29 Pack Meeting – Campfire at Wason Pond
    1. How did it go?

                                                              i.            Worked well.

                                                            ii.            Communication was tough.  Need a better way.  Ted calls Den Leaders, Den Leaders call their dens.  Must have all contact info for everyone to have.  All communication needs to be done by 5:00 for a meeting that evening.

    1. What should we do again/different next year?

                                                              i.            Organize marshmallows again

                                                            ii.            Den S’mores again

                                                          iii.            Electric lanterns on stands

                                                          iv.            Form a semi-circle

                                                            v.            Maybe use Camp Carpenter’s council fire and maybe a campout.

 

  1. October Pack Meeting – Pease may not work out
    1. Finalize plans

                                                              i.            Can do Michelle’s Menagerie for $155.  Choose between American, Desert, or Rainforest animals.

                                                            ii.            Dick will bring checkbook to pack meeting

                                                          iii.            Eric will get Michelle there

                                                          iv.            Should parents sign a release to touch animals – Eric will check.

                                                            v.            Rainforest Animals are the choice

                                                          vi.            Sue will reserve cafeteria

                                                        vii.            Or do a game night

 

  1. November Pack Meeting
    1. Plans

                                                              i.            Cake decorating.

                                                            ii.            Do Cub Scouting theme (could be hiking, camping, camp fire, be creative).

                                                          iii.            Kevin will do a skit.

                                                          iv.            Eric will put a blurb in newsletter

                                                            v.            Sue will get boy scouts to judge

                                                          vi.            Den 2 will also do a skit.

  1. Fall Camporee October 13 – 15 at Camp Carpenter
    1. From last month

                                                              i.            Pirates cove

                                                            ii.            Register by Sept. 23 for discount ($2.50 adults, $7.50 kids)

                                                          iii.            $11.75 after Sept. 23

                                                          iv.            Sue will be in charge of getting people to sign up.

    1. Final Details

                                                              i.            Bring own tents

                                                            ii.            Bring equipment

                                                          iii.            Bring food to cook

 

  1. New Leader training October 28, 8:15 to 4:00 at Camp Carpenter
    1. $10 register by October 21
    2. Pack will pay for training – submit receipt to Dick

 

  1. September Roundtable (Sue)
    1. How did it go, what were the important points?

                                                              i.            Popcorn was the major thing – Sue gave things to pass out.

 

  1. October Roundtable October 11, 7:00 PM – St. Elizabeth Seton (Bedford)
    1. Who will attend?

                                                              i.            Anne Marie and Ted will try to go.

 

  1. Re-chartering
    1. How are we coming with getting applications and $$

                                                              i.            Doing good.

                                                            ii.            Need a two from Sue, need one from Kevin, need one from Dick, need a two from Katie’s den, need 2 from Terry

 

  1. Sleep-out to Boston Science Museum in January.
    1. $45 per scout
    2. Omni-theater and exhibits open
    3. Melissa Pollard will chair the event
    4. Den leaders check with Den to see if anyone is interested

 

  1. Misc.
    1. Hanlon’s Den

                                                              i.            They are working on the weekends.

                                                            ii.            Ann Marie will call Terry to see if they want to combine their two dens to have 4 kids.

    1. Need an updated pack roster/mailing list – can get from registration forms

                                                              i.            Melissa will put it together based on registration sheets

    1. Scout stuff recycling

                                                              i.            Eric will get a box for donations and bring to pack meeting

                                                            ii.            Den leaders let people dens know.

    1. Make a Pack campership fund
    2. Religious patch – Eric will coordinate with Pastor’s presentation.
