Pack 163 Committee Minutes

  1. Town Fair and Parade – Sept 9: Noon – 6 or 9 PM
    1. Notes from last year (we missed a few)

1.      Should order popcorn prior to parade

2.      Let people know about the fair/parade in April, let them know about selling popcorn, being in parade, applications.

3.      Should look into having a microwave to pop popcorn at the fair.  Would also need a booth with electricity.

4.      Sell some small drinks with the popcorn.

5.      Should have a chairman to coordinate the fair and parade.  Get chairman at the end of this year.

6.      Maybe have a tent with Cub Scout activities to attract new kids (set up a camp site, pinewood derby cars, etc.

    1. Do we want to March in the parade?

1.      Yes, Sue will set it up with Deb Farrington

2.      Den Leaders, contact dens and let them know.

3.      Ted will call and invite May Scouts to parade.

    1. Do we want a booth $15 (+$25 with electricity)?

1.      No

  1. New Scout Sign-up – Sept 15th, 7:00 – 8:30 (Sue will get a room at school)
    1. Notes from last year?

1.      Working on getting books for the Tigers.  Try to get these for sign-up or den setup for next year.  (Neckerchiefs are given out for advancement.)

2.      Plan earlier for the registration and get more signs out, maybe have someone go to the classrooms and talk about scouts.

3.      Need to advertise to all grades, not just Tigers.

4.      Can order fliers from Council that talk about joining Cub Scouts.

5.      Hand out list of dates and uniform stuff at sign up.

6.      Make sure we have books for everyone at the den setup.

7.      Do a week between the sign-up and den setup.

    1. Den Set-up

1.      Sept. 22, 7:00 for Den setup

a.      Sue will reserve a room at school

b.      Ted will run it

2.      Ted will have scouts from May bring $$ to den setup

3.      Ted will get Books

4.      Buy Cub Scout Leader Books for new leaders and Katie

5.      Buy 4 Webelos Leader books

6.      All current scouts need to fill out new forms and pay with den leader.  Include Den number and leader on the form.

1.      Melissa Stinson will do the town signs.

    1. Flyers for school

1.      Eric will make flyers for school and distribute to classes

2.      Justin will look into Cub Scout flyers

    1. Girl Scouts interested in doing this jointly again

1.      Kevin will let Nancy know our dates.

    1. Girl Scouts are doing a recruiting activity at Wason Pond (Campfire) Aug 25 7:00PM, are we interested?

1.      Yes.  Sue and Dick can be there.

2.      Dick will bring some wood and the sign-up sheets.

3.      Girl Scouts will handle the advertising of this activity.

Directions to St. Elizabeth Seton:

        Take NH-101 West to South River Road / US-3 Exit in Bedford.

        Take a RIGHT at second set of lights onto South River Road and follow for less than a 1/2 mile.

        Take a RIGHT at set of lights onto Meetinghouse Road (immediately after going under NH-101 bridge).

        St Elizabeth Seton is on the RIGHT after the on-ramp to NH-101 East.

        Meeting is in the basement.
