Pack 163 Committee Minutes
April 5, 2006
i. Went Good
ii. Slideshow again – more den pictures maybe make it shorter and have a timeslot for it
iii. Liked the candle ceremony
iv. Length was perfect
i. Justin can’t yell at Ted during meeting
ii. Involve the Charter org more in ceremony can do prayer and feel free to speak more
iii. Do an introduction to ceremony to let people know what we are doing
iv. Get a podium for Ted.
i. Set-up at 1:30
ii. Meeting at Multi-Purpose Room
iii. Tigers go first, should be there at 2:00, 2:30 for everyone else.
iv. Include district date in newsletter.
v. Justin will get 1st, 2nd, 3rd place pins (2 sets) and either ribbons or patches for participation.
vi. Check with Sue to see if she can make up 5 awards for Tigers – Certificates like the cake bake for different awards (most original, most colorful, most outrageous, etc.)
vii. At district, all 4 wheels have to be touching on a flat surface. We’ll do this rule.
viii. Double Elimination
ix. Dick Trask will bring and run the scales
x. Kevin will do a spreadsheet to track heats and winners
xi. Last 5 are triple elimination if we want
xii. Last races, switch lanes
i. Have boys stick around for registration
ii. Need to have games and such for Saturday morning.
iii. Have some canoes in lake with boy scouts
iv. Fishing
i. Ted will get permission slips for everyone who is going to go to camp out. If parent can’t stay during day, child can be in care of another adult if it is written on the permission slip.
ii. Each Den bring a gallon of milk, gallon of OJ, and syrup. Dick will bring the pancake mix. This will be used for campers and people showing up.
iii. Ted will bring forks, knives, plates, cups, etc.
iv. Bring life jackets, fishing poles, camping stuff, etc. provided by dens
v. Everyone is responsible for their own Friday night dinner.
vi. (put all info for camping trip in newsletter)
vii. Boy Scouts will come and do knots, etc.
viii. If it rains, we will camp on the 19th and as a rain date. We will keep the membership drive rain or shine.
i. Get there Friday after 4:00 for check in.
ii. Leave Sunday morning.
iii. Bring small tents that fit on wooden platforms
i. 8 or 9 boys
ii. Kevin will bring 1 Chuck Wagon, Ted will bring the other
iii. Kids will split up evenly between wagons
iv. $9 for kids who haven’t signed up ahead of time. Kevin paid for 9 kids at $6 rate.
v. Kevin is contact person if anyone can’t go or if they have an extra, let him know. 887-3642.
vi. Bring own food, water, rain gear, sm first aid kit.
i. What do we have to do now to get started?
1. Get word out to start thinking about scout camp.
2. Justin will find out what we need for deposits.
3. Parents need to start thinking about having boys’ physicals done and in.
4. Any parent planning to attend camp who is 40 and over has to have a physical every year. Under 40, physical is good for 2 years.
ii. Details:
1. Each Pack has a designated week but individuals can go provisional when they want. Week 5 7/23 – 7/27.
2. Can do hike-a-thon to help get $$
3. Families in need can get apply for a campership to help with camp cost but must do hike-a-thon.
4. Maybe next year some fundraiser $$ can go toward helping with camp if we have enough $$.
5. If cubs help with boy scout yard sale, boy scouts will kick back a little $$ that can help with camp.
iii. Have meeting for camp for all parents going to camp. Informational night. April 7 at 7:00 at scout room. Ted will announce it at Blue and Gold.
iv. Ted will be there the whole time. Justin will do nights. Need another adult for M, T, W, Th. Could have separate people like one person M, T and another for W, Th.
