Last month we had a great meeting at Steven’s Hall with Master Shihan. I know some of the boys learned quite a bit from his talk and hope others did as well. We hope you enjoyed the parent/cub cake decorating this evening and have a great Thanksgiving. POPCORNA big THANK YOU!!! from the Popcorn Kernel (Julie Sprague) for all the boys’ and families for all your hard work to make the popcorn fundraiser a success.Special thanks to the boys for the great spirit displayed at all those wet Show ‘N’ Sells (was there a dry one?). Sales totaled over $6,000 and the pack will keep over $2,000 and another $2,000 + will go to our local council. We also owe a big THANK YOU!!! to the Popcorn Kernel herself for all the hard work and hours put in to organize and run the sales this year as well as parking in the driveway for a couple of months while allowing the pack to use her garage as the “popcorn store”. Excellent Job! As you know, the Popcorn is here. Please try to deliver it to your customers as soon as possible. I know many are planning to enjoy it for the holidays or give it as gifts to their friends for the holidays.
SCOUTING FOR FOODYou may have helped distribute Scouting for Food bags around town last Friday or Saturday. If not, you may have noticed one on your mailbox. This is part of the national good turn and sponsored by each individual council to donate food to local charities for the holiday season. Any boy that helps pass out or collect bags will receive a patch and it is also helps with some achievements or electives throughout scouting.
VETERANS DAY PARADEThe Cub Scouts had an AWESOME FLOAT in the Veteran's Day Parade! The float was made by one of the Leaders of Den 7, Deb Farrington and her husband, Tom. There were Tigers, Wolves, Bears, Webelos I and II in uniform, riding on the float and throwing candy to all the parade watchers! The parade concluded with a short Veteran's Day Ceremony honoring all of Chester's Veterans. The Veteran's Day Float was a REAT representation of Chester's Cub Scouts. Great job Scouts!

Agenda TBD. DEN NEWS Den 6: In October, the wolves from Den 6 did their flag unit in their Wolf book. They also did some of the other activities in the book. In addition, they had a new scout sign up. Please welcome Jerel W. to Den 6 and Pack 163! The boys can't wait to get their Bobcat badges at November's meeting – Congratulations Den 6!. In November they worked on their safety units and are doing their building unit and making a den flag.
Den 8:
The Tigers in Den 8 remained busy working on both their Lets Go Outdoors
and Making My Family Special achievements.
We have gone on two Go See Its,
one to hike at the Audubon center and one to the Scouting Museum at Camp
Carpenter. They had a special treat at
Camp Carpenter with a Revolutionary
War reenactment group camping at Fort Friendship. They were very welcoming to the boys who wanted to go into the
fort to play hide and seek. They also
fired a “bunker buster” for them which looks a bit like a sawed off musket with
a 1 ½ inch bore. It sounded more like a
small cannon. Den 11: The Webelos in Den 11 are working on their Communication Pin and hope to get in their Boy Scout meetings in November. Even without another pin, they will all be ready for their Arrow of Light after they finish drilling into the twelve parts of the Scout Law. Go Den 11!!!
I know the
other dens have been busy too… please send any updates to epstinson@chesternhcubscouts.org to include
in next month’s newsletter (1 week prior to the pack meeting). Who knows, maybe other dens can get some
ideas from your den. DISTRICT NEWS Scout
