The purpose of the Boy Scouts of America, incorporated on February 8, 1910, and chartered by Congress in 1916, is to provide an educational program for boys to build character, train in the responsibilities of citizenship, and to develop personal fitness. The Boy Scouts of America is organized in programs dedicated to instilling positive values in youth of differing ages. SUMMER CAMP RECAP

Ten cub scouts, representing Wolf through Webelos II and four leaders had a great week at summer camp this past summer.  Revile was at 6:30 AM and Taps at 9:30 with about 15 minutes of downtime in between, so needless to say, it was a busy week.  The boys went swimming, boating, rock throwing (safely of course), sliding on the waterslide, to the fort and to the Native American Village.  They also visited the archery range, the rifle range, the arts and crafts cabin, the nature center, Pirate’s cove where they learned about pirates, searched for treasure and had a water fight on the paddle boats.  They also visited the sports field for volleyball, football, and the camp wide event where they took part in giant bowling for staff, a dunk tank, whack a staff, catapulting sponges, and more.  Oh yes, and the younger boys earned their witling chip while the Webelos II’s spent the day at Webelos woods.  Tonight they hung a frog on the Pack 163 flag because taking a frog camping is good luck.  They earned the frog by answering questions all week at the nature center.   You may also have noticed 12 beads hanging from the frog.  Each of these was earned by the boys answering trivia questions at each of the stations through camp.

The following boys went to camp: Stanley, Trevor, Thompson, Teddy, Joey, Hayden, Steiger, Larry (triple L), Jared, and Kyle.  Thanks to the leaders: Ted, Eric, Mike and Larry.  Special thanks to Ted for the hard work and great job in organizing camp.  Feel free to ask the boys or leaders about camp, we’ll have another great week next year and the more the merrier.  PS: Thanks Riiiiich (if you want to know the meaning, ask one of the boys who went to camp and while you’re at it, ask them to show you their chicken).
