SUMMER CAMP It may seem early to start thinking of summer camp, but summer will be here before we know it. Summer camp is a great opportunity for your Cub Scout to grow and have fun. There are many activities that keep them busy from morning until night, and opportunities to learn new skills, develop new interests and friendships.
There are two types of camp offered by Daniel Webster Council, resident camp and day camp. Both offer an excellent program at Camp Carpenter in Manchester. Cub Scouts will participate in many types of activities including water activities, archery, BB shooting, field sports, nature, arts and crafts, Scouts skills and a variety of other events. All areas (especially archery, BB shooting and water activities) place a special emphasis on safety procedures.
Camp is definitely one of the highlights of Cub Scouting.

DEN NEWS Den 1: This month we have been working on our “Traveler” activity badge and the Geography Belt Loop. We learned about maps, latitude and longitude, mapping out a trip, figuring out miles per gallon of gas and we even took a fun trip to the Manchester/Boston Regional Airport! What a fun month we’ve had! WEBELOS ROCK!
Den 8 has been quite busy in the new year. We learned to make rope and all the boys made their own. Then we practiced throwing it for accuracy with the use of a Monkey Fist, as well as learned to keep the rope from tangling. We also built survival snowshoes and will be trying them out at an upcoming snowshoeing trip at the Audubon in Auburn.
Den 10: In addition to working hard on our Wolf requirements, we’ve been busy working on earning some Den-level awards. We’re currently working on both the Rudyard Kipling and National Den Award. We’re also planning to start work on a Recycling Conservation project over the next few weeks.
